Ahh, I love the Perry Hotel and Marina! When we first found the Perry I thought that being fully outside of the town of Key West was going to be inconvenient, but it was actually really wonderful. Since the property is so large and has all the resort amenities you might want, staying at the Perry Hotel and Marina is actually its own type of getaway for the Florida Keys. You kind of forget that you’re in Key West until you leave and then realize that you’re very near the Garrison Bight Marina and the back entrance to Key West. This is kind of like a secret way to have a mellow Key West stay.
I know the name Perry Hotel and Marina implies boating, but don’t worry if you don’t have a boat. Don’t we all wish we did? There are slips that guests can arrange for, but really the Perry is a resort for landlubber or sailors alike. If you have any questions about the hotel or Stock Island (the Key West neighborhood it’s located in), please leave a comment or send us a note. I love talking about the Keys and am happy to share more!
Why Stay at the Perry Hotel in Key West
I’ll be honest that my absolute favorite feature of staying at the Perry Key West Resort is actually the outdoor shower. I absolutely love outdoor showers and having one here was wonderful. After a long day on the water, it’s the perfect way to unwind. Yes, there is more to the Perry Hotel and Marina that I love, but I just had to start there because I think it’s special.
Anyways, the rooms at the Perry Hotel are comfortable, crisp/clean/uncluttered and have a much more modern feel than many of the places we’ve stayed in Key West. Overall the hotel feel is industrial chic, which I don’t know of another resort in the Keys with the same vibe, so that’s kind of a cool feature to enjoy. There’s cool, comfortable public spaces and the outdoor areas are awesome.
Since the Perry Hotel and Marina is located on Stock Island, at the east end of Key West, there’s a lot more space to create great outdoor relaxation zones. There are more quiet, shady areas to hang out here than any other Key West resort we’ve been to. While other resorts have beautiful, garden style pool areas, like the Marker Resort, there isn’t a ton of space and if it’s busy you may be near others while you lounge. Here at the Perry there is a ton of space and several pool areas, so coming back here at the end of the day is a great experience every time.

Room Options at the Perry Hotel Key West
Room types at the Perry Hotel Key West vary from a low floor room with two queen beds to a top floor 700 square foot suite overlooking the marina. For the most part, the room types are what they are because of their view paired with the bed set up, but then there are rooms with sitting areas too.
The Perry and Mangrove room types are the most basic, being simply spacious room with huge balconies. They’re very nice. The Saltwater Studios overlook the pool and marina and have a larger sitting area with a pullout sofa. Then we get to the suites. There is either the Commodore Suite with a soaking tub that has connecting rooms (so you can make it into a larger suite) or there is the Grand Suite, which is a huge penthouse. Depending on what your plans are when you’re staying at the Perry Hotel in Key West, you can keep it as simple as just a very nice room or you can be a baller.
Perry Hotel and Marina Amenities
Since the Perry Hotel and Marina is meant to be a place where boaters can also find respite from the sea, there are great amenities here. You’ve got a coffee shop, market, shops, several pools, a great restaurant and a really good gym. The marina element makes this a premium place to moor your boat, but if you’ve been sailing through the Keys and are ready to relax in comfort and reset, this is a great option.
For us regular hotel guests, the same idea of amenities to recharge is important, especially if you’re been out snorkeling or kayaking all day. We had a day while staying at the Perry Hotel and Marina where we went out with Key West Eco on the Java Cat and then headed out with Danger Charters immediately after lunch and by the time we got back to the hotel, all we could do was shower and enjoy the lounge chairs, and thank goodness there are tons of them.
For people like me who keep with their gym routine when they’re on trips, the fitness center at the Perry Hotel and Marina is actually pretty great. It’s nice and big, has plenty of free weights with benches, cardio equipment and other fitness tools. If you’re into CrossFit or Pilates, there is lots of space and freestyle gear to do your workouts.
One more thing to remember is that the Perry Hotel and Marina does offer a free shuttle into downtown Key West. Space is limited and it has a schedule, but this is a great option if you know you don’t want to drive or find parking downtown. Or if you’re in town for the cocktail crawls and know you shouldn’t be driving yourself.
Dining at the Perry Hotel Key West
The main restaurant at the Perry Hotel and Marina is Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen. We enjoyed breakfasts and happy hour here on several occasions. They also do lunch and dinner, but we tend to find ourselves in town for those meals more often than not. If you like cocktails, the bar at Matt’s is top notch and they make a mean Old Fashioned, and their signature Perry-tini. I do love it.
There is also a coffee shop by the marina where you can get pastries and smoothies, and then there’s an oyster bar that serves more than oysters in the afternoon. Stock Island itself is actually a bit of a foodie locale. El Siboney, Hurricane Hole, the Hogfish and more make this an awesome place to dine on the docks each night. Even though downtown Key West has so many great restaurants, you could actually try a Stock Island restaurant each night you’re here.
Perry Hotel and Marina Parking Information
There is parking onsite at the Perry Hotel and Marina. It’s self-park, and does cost $27 per night. Since you have in and out privileges, you might as well use your car while you’re here and drive into Key West for activities. Yes, there is a shuttle provided by the Perry Hotel to downtown, but if you’re going to be covering lots of ground, you may need to drive sometimes. You’ll likely pay less in segmented day parking rates while downtown than the cost of an Uber around town.
