Bakers Cay Resort at the west end of Key Largo is such a lovely property. Part of the Hilton collection, Bakers Cay is beautifully set within the hardwood hammock (forest) of Key Largo with lots of small beach access points, and a larger beach. It’s a beautiful property and can be a nice family vacation spot or a retreat all to yourself. The most relaxed I’ve ever been in the Keys (because we’re usually so busy) was here, and I may have fallen asleep at the beach and woke up surrounded by strangers…
If you’re looking for a nice Key Large hotel, Bakers Cay Resort is one of my top picks. Take a look at the rooms and amenities to see if it’s right for you. If you have any questions about staying at Bakers Cay or planning time on Key Largo, please leave a comment or send us a note. We’re always happy to share more!
Why Stay at the Bakers Cay Resort
I like that Bakers Cay Resort has the beach and ocean hammock so well integrated into the property. When you walk outside you are always in nature, even when you go over to the swimming pool. There are trees everywhere and birds in the trees. The beach areas are calm and ideal for wading out with the wading birds, like the great egrets and herons. Swimming at the beach means swimming with the fish all around, and maybe even a manatee to two.
Even though the hotel element of Bakers Cay Resort is really nice, all of the outdoor space is my favorite element. I know that not everyone wants to be immersed in the wildlife of the Florida Keys, so if that’s you don’t worry, because there are lots of hammocks to lay in and sunny beach space to sprawl out on. And every room also has it’s own balcony/deck, so even at your room you have outdoor space.
Room Options at the Bakers Cay Key Largo
When it comes to the rooms, I would describe them as modern Florida Keys chic. They’re light and airy, have a coral or driftwood element and there is enough space to relax within. Rooms have the standard in-room amenities like TV and coffee makers, and there is seating so you’re not just laying on the bed if you’re hanging out in the room. Bakers Cay Resort is a Hilton property, so the standards that are required for the Curio collection of hotels apply here. The room options you’ll find at Bakers Cay Resort include:
- One Bedroom King – sleeps 4
- King w/ trundles – sleeps 6
- Bakers Cay Suite – sleeps 6
- Two Bedroom Suite – sleeps 8
- King Room – sleeps 2
- Double Queen Room – sleeps 4
- Junior Suite – sleeps 4
Bakers Cay Resort Amenities
I’ve stayed at a lot of resorts and hotels all through the Florida Keys, but the swimming pools at Bakers Cay Resort are my favorite. I’m a sucker for a wonderful setting and the swimming pools here are awesome. Surrounded by trees and a privacy wall, it’s a nice refuge from the rest of the resort. The highlight is the waterfall into the pool, which makes it both fun and relaxing. The Holiday Inn Key Largo also has a waterfall, but overall this resort is much nicer.
Other on property amenities include kayak and paddleboard rentals, art classes, guest events, live music and more. There’s even a great activity lawn complete with volleyball and lounge chairs, a pool table and library area, a fitness center… Staying at Bakers Cay Resort is both fun and a bit dreamy. It’s my top pick for where to stay on Key Largo.
Dining at the Bakers Cay
The main restaurant at Bakers Cay Resort is Calusa, looking out across the water. While it may be a sunglass-on dinner experience, it’s just right for indoor/outdoor dining the rest of the day, including breakfast. The food is exceptional which is important for the hotel since there is so much other good dining on Key Largo. If you’re into scallops, or whatever the current “fresh catch” is, you’ll love it here.
Dry Rocks is another option for dining at Bakers Cay Resort. This is located just off the beach, so you get that whole Florida Keys outdoors chill experience that I really love about staying here. Dry Rocks is the more casual lunch and dinner option, and has really good sandwiches. There’s also a pool bar (food truck style) and then a tiki bar at the beach. You are for sure able to check into Bakers Cay Resort and not have to leave for any reason for several days.
Bakers Cay Key Largo Parking Information
Parking isn’t included at Bakers Cay Resort, so keep that in mind. Self parking is $10 per night and is really easy with lots of space. If you do want to valet park, that’s $15 a night, but it’s really not needed here. It’s very easy to park near your room which makes for quick coming and going.

More Things to Do on Key Largo
I really enjoy spending time on Key Largo as there are great activities and lots of good restaurants. Being the first of the towns in the Florida Keys, this is the easiest key for people in Miami and South Florida to get to, so it’s a popular weekend destination. Every day of the week is great though, and it maintains its chill mode most of the time. Key Largo is a good place to launch into wildlife tours with several snorkeling and dive outfitters being based here.
Also, there are a few state parks on Key Largo, but the highlight really is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. From trails to kayaking to glass bottom boats and snorkel trips, this is the one-stop-shop for an awesome Key Largo experience.

Key Largo is the largest of the Florida Keys and has boutique hotels, roadside motels, B&Bs and resorts. We’ve enjoyed staying in condo style resorts and well as luxe spots on Key Largo. Heck, the Holiday Inn Key Largo is actually our most frequented hotel in the Keys. Check out the map below for ideas for where to stay when you come to this wonderful island.
I hope you’ll consider Bakers Cay Resort for a night or two. The vibe here is so peaceful and fun, and it is perfectly Key Largo.
