If ever there were a Florida Keys hotel to live up to its name it’s the Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo. Not only is it diver-forward with their shop and tours, but snorkeling from the property is amazing. Y’all, there were seahorses, and not just one or two. Besides the awesome underwater wildlife the Amoray Dive Resort is just a fun, nice place to stay. I know that a lot of people look for luxury when they book their trip to Key Largo or other islands, but I think most people will really like staying at the Amoray Dive Resort despite it not being completely luxe.
I’ve got the full scoop on the fun hotel and lots of suggestions for great things to do all around Key Largo, including what you’ll find in the water here at the resort. If you have any questions about our stay at the Amoray Dive Resort or need additional recommendations for Key Largo, please leave a comment or send us a note. We’re always happy to share more and help you plan a great trip to the Florida Keys!

Why Stay at the Amoray Dive Resort
We’re a really active family and even though we are usually on the go or out on the water, when we book our hotels we’re very intentional about making sure that we’ll enjoy our time there. The Amoray Dive Resort isn’t just a place for divers, even though that is their target audience, but it’s a place for anyone who just wants to enjoy the way of life in the Florida Keys. The property has garden space for hanging out, shady space for falling asleep outside, sunny space for getting your tan on, and even a small sandy beach. If you’re not an active water person, you can enjoy your time at the Amoray Dive Resort just as much as a snorkeler; just bring a good book and some flip flops and you’re set.
The Amoray Dive Resort also has its own boat for leading dive and snorkeling trips. They leave right from the property on the bay side and take guests over the the reefs on the Atlantic side. While this isn’t included with your room rate, you are able to book a room and then get a discount on the different tours (direct booking) which is unique and kind of amazing. If you’re going to be snorkeling or diving anyways, you might as well walk right out from your hotel room to get on the boat and swim with the fishes!
The biggest highlight for me in staying at the Amoray Dive Resort was actually the wonderful marinlife all around the jetty and pylons at the property. Yes, they do trips to the reef, but if the weather isn’t great or you just want to swim from the hotel, the wildlife is awesome. Lots of amazing fish move in and out of the lagoon and hang out just off the jetty, but then if you’re a patient snorkeler, you can explore a whole other world along the rocks and structure. Watching seahoreses and nudibranchs is one of my favorite types of snorkeling, and these species are very prevalent RIGHT HERE!

Room Options at Amoray Dive Resort
Something fun about the rooms at the Amoray Dive Resort is actually the variety of room types you can book, which is great if you’re traveling with a group and need to get multiple rooms. The resort is made up of six or seven buildings (depending on what you include) that have standard rooms and suites. You can choose from something as simple as a room with a single queen to a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen. This is great to be able to fit a variety of budgets and can make for an easy group getaway.
When you’re booking your room, you can pick from the following bed types, and then the actually reservation will depend on the location or upgrades you choose: one queen, one king, one superior king, queen suite, king suite, or two queen suite. From there you can choose to book something upstairs or on the ground level, away from the water or directly next to it. Again, it’s going to come down to your needs, your budget and the Amoray Dive Resort’s availability.
I like how the rooms are decorated, with minimal distractions but crisp and clean spaces. Maybe a little more underwater art would be good and a bit more attention to detail, but it wouldn’t have made our stay any better overall. The rooms are clean and well maintained, which is all I ask for when I’m on an adventure. It’s a nice place to relax and explore the waterways of Key Largo.

Amoray Dive Resort Amenities
I love a waterside swimming pool, and that’s what the Amoray Dive Resort has. With a pool just above the lagoon, you can enjoy swimming and then pop down to the beach. Or swim from the beach too. The lagoon is small and may have vegetation cycling in and out, but it’s not bad and it’s GREAT for sheltered snorkeling.
There are plenty of lounge chairs both around the swimming pool area and out on the sundeck. There are charcoal grills if you want to cook up your catch and there is a tiki hut to enjoy a meal under, and a few hammocks for relaxing. Basically the amenities are ideal for checking in and checking out from real life.
Another set of amenities at the Amoray Dive Resort that really add value is the recreational equipment. At the beach there are kayaks and standup paddleboards, and then you can also check out bikes from the front desk. They even have snorkel gear for guests if you didn’t bring your own, and that’s all included in your $25 resort fee (as of 2026). And if you need it, there are laundry facilities onsite, but who wants to do wash when they’re on vacation?

Dining in Key Largo
The Amoray Dive Resort does not have any onsite restaurant, but it’s Key Largo so you have lots of dining options just minutes away. If you’ve booked a room or suite with a kitchen or kitchenette, it’s very easy to prep your own meals and then take them out to the sundeck or tiki hut to enjoy, and don’t forget that there are charcoal grills on the property too. The suites with the full kitchens also have full sized refrigerators. All rooms have coffee makers and mini-fridges, so you can set yourself up with your own continental breakfast during your stay.
If you are just interested in restaurants near the Amoray Dive Resort, there are plenty of options within ten minute’s of driving, or you can use one of the resort’s bikes. Here are our top picks:
- Skipper’s Dockside – best Key Lime Pie
- the Hideout Restaurant – next to Marine Lab
- Snook’s Bayside Grill – lunch on the sand
- The Fish House – really fun, a little divey
- Buzzard’s Roost – waterfront and there’s usually a manatee hanging out

Amoray Dive Resort Parking Information
Parking is included with your resort fee at the Amoray Dive Resort. There are plenty of spots, but some are a little more tight than others. If you’re driving a large vehicle ask for advice from the front desk if it’s unclear where you should park. There is a unique traffic pattern on the property, so be sure that you’re well parked and not blocking the main drive.

More Things to Do on Key Largo
I really enjoy spending time on Key Largo as there are great activities and lots of good restaurants. Being the first of the towns in the Florida Keys, this is the easiest key for people in Miami and South Florida to get to, so it’s a popular weekend destination. Every day of the week is great though, and it maintains its chill mode most of the time. Key Largo is a good place to launch into wildlife tours with several snorkeling and dive outfitters being based here.
Also, there are a few state parks on Key Largo, but the highlight really is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. From trails to kayaking to glass bottom boats and snorkel trips, this is the one-stop-shop for an awesome Key Largo experience.
