Key West is full of secluded, lush cottage style hotels and each is different from the next. Eden House Key West is a quiet, beautiful hotel consisting of a vintage hotel building and several cottages/bungalows all around a central tropical pool courtyard. There are gentle fountains, shady lounge areas and greenery all around. It’s an ideal Key West escape, because literally it feels like you’ve escaped the tourists of the Historic District just beyond the hotel.
We enjoy Eden House Key West very much and are happy to share what makes it such a great place for a KW getaway. It’s very special and feels a world away. If you have any questions about staying at Eden House, their delicious restaurant, Azur, or need additional recommendations, please leave a comment or send us a note. We’re always happy to share more and help you plan a great visit to the Florida Keys.

Why Stay at Eden House Key West
Something that makes staying at Eden House Key West special is the quiet fun of the hotel. The staff is very laid back, but also very kind, and they’re all about making you feel at home. Upon arrival I received a welcome drink and was shown to my room, given a short orientation of the property and then left to enjoy. I hadn’t had this sort of service at a hotel in years; it was lovely.
The actual stay itself was very nice. Although Eden House is located within easy walking distance of everything in the historic district, you’re far enough away from the noise and crowds of Duval Street or the Historic Seaport. The rooms themselves are quiet, but then also the garden-like pool courtyard also feels like it’s far from the buzz of Key West. It’s very peaceful and relaxing with the convenience of a great location.
Within the rooms at Eden House Key west everything is very well maintained and comfortable. Heavy wooden blinds and vintage touched bring the Caribbean / Florida Keys vibe to the rooms, while there are modern touches and conveniences too. I loved the four-post bed and sleeping alcove of my specific room (501). I felt like I was in a special suite far away from anything. With so many choices for historic properties and different types of B&Bs and the like, Eden House Key West truly is a great option for being close to the action and yet completely detaches from the hustle and bustle of this beautiful town.

Eden House Key West Amenities
Eden house is a small property (in comparison to other Key West hotels), but they do have an incredible courtyard that is the primary amenity. If you have a few days in Key West, you’ll likely need a place to breakaway and recover by the pool, and this is a wonderful pool for that. Lots of lounge chairs, umbrellas and bistro tables make it ideal for either relaxing or enjoying coffee or cocktails around the pool. There is also a good sized hot tub next to it, which is perfect after a long day of snorkeling or exploring Key West on foot. Pool towels are readily available so you don’t need to bring them from your room. If you’re heading out for a day on the water, you’re welcome to grab pool towels to take with you, just be sure to bring them back.
In room amenities include Keurig coffee makers, medium sized refrigerators, and some rooms have large wet bars with ample space to prepare snacks and drinks to enjoy in your room or out on the patio. My room also had its own private outdoor sitting areas, but not all rooms have that option. Some have porches and swings, and then some have bistro sets outside. Coffee is also provided in the lobby if you’re an early riser and don’t want to wake anyone in your room. There are rocking chairs on the hotel front porch so you can enjoy your morning beverage and watch Key West come to life.
And then a bonus if you want to rent one while you’re staying at Eden House are the bikes. We love riding bikes in Key West, especially for heading over to Smathers Beach or just having a change of pace, and Eden house has a good fleet of bicycles available.

Dining at Eden House Key West
What makes staying at Eden House Key West so pleasant is how unassuming it is. From the street you’d have no idea that there’s a beautiful, tropical escape just steps away, and you also wouldn’t think twice about the connected restaurant, Azur, but it’s a real gem. Also, there is a wonderful pool bar that’s tucked away and wonderful to enjoy in the afternoon.
Azur Restaurant
I tried to think of how I would describe the menu of Azur Key West and I landed on upscale Florida meets Caribbean farm-to-table. You always want a restaurant to feature the freshest ingredients and to be as local as possible, and Azur very much feels this way. Beautiful salads and fish dishes highlight the chef’s love of warm and cool flavors mixing. The salt cod croquettas take a standard Caribbean dish and make it very Key West, combining the spice of harissa and the freshness of mint. Clearly this is a favorite of mine.
The full dinner menu is perfectly upscale while still being reasonable. Lots of unique seafood options and a variety of European preparations of duck, lamb and steak provide a broad range of choices. Azur is also open for breakfast (brunch) with the benedicts being the highlight. The restaurant is open to both hotel guests and the public, and the setting is very laid back while still feeling quite upscale. I really enjoy Azur.

Dredgers Poolside Bar
Nestled away in the pool courtyard is the Dredgers tiki bar. It’s a small bar with seating at the counter and some surrounding tables. It’s a nice, shady spot to enjoy a beverage or grab one and head back over to the pool. They do offer some signature cocktails, but for the most part it is a simple afternoon oasis that’s easy to access and enjoy.

Eden House Parking Information
There is parking at Eden House Key West despite it being located within a neighborhood. Parking is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis, but there are a good number of spots in their small lot and next to Azur restaurant. When you check in, you can ask for a parking pass to display and then they’ll advise where parking is currently available. If the lot and spots are full, there is a nearby parking garage and then there is street parking another block or two away. Arriving mid-day can be a good way to ensure you score one of the parking spots, as many guests will check out by 10:00 am and depart Key West.
